Phoenix Airport - All Information on Phoenix Airport (PHX)

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the biggest international airport in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. It is often referred to as Sky Harbor Airport or just Phoenix Airport. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is located just 3 miles/4.8 km east of downtown Phoenix, Arizona, United States.

The official address of Sky Harbor Airport is 3400 East Sky Harbor Blvd, Phoenix, Arizona 85034, United States. You can call the airport for any customer information at telephone number: +1 602-273-3300.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is, in fact, a civil-military public airport. It carries the international airport code of PHX (IATA), KPHX (ICAO) and PHX (FAA LID). The airport sits in an elevated location about 1,135 feet/346 meters above sea level at 33°26′03″ N and 112°00′42″ W.

Today Sky Harbor Airport is the largest and busiest airport in the state of Arizona. It served 44,943,686 passengers in 2018, which thereby made it the 44th busiest airport in the world.

The biggest carrier at Sky Harbor Airport is without a doubt, American Airlines, with flights to 102 destinations in five countries and over 250 daily departures. American Airlines serviced almost 46 % of all passengers in 2017 at PHX and employed approximately 9,500 people. This also means that Phoenix Airport works as the sixth-largest hub for American Airlines.

Furthermore, Sky Harbor Airport is one of the biggest hubs for Southwest Airlines. This carrier serves 188 daily departures from PHX to 53 cities in the United States. In addition, you can find carriers such as Mesa Airlines, Delta Air Airlines, and United Airlines.

Sky Harbor Airport covers approximately 3,400 acres/1,400 ha of land, and here you will find three runways, which can accommodate aircraft that have a maximum takeoff weight of 900,000 lb./410,000 kg. The three runways are all controlled from the air traffic control tower at Sky Harbor Airport. The air traffic control tower is 326 ft./99 m tall and it began to operate on January 14, 2007. The control tower is located east of the Terminal 3 parking garage.

Sky Harbor Airport serves three terminals and up to 116 aircraft gates. The three terminals are Terminals; 2, 3, and 4. The reason behind the odd numbers of the passenger terminals is due to the fact that the airport’s designated Terminal 1 is no longer in use. However, the airport administration states did not wish to re-number the other terminals because they meant that all passengers were now familiar with the numbers given to the remaining terminals.
